Re-Key - Residential (Up to 4 locks)

Service Description

This price is when working with standard keyways (Schlage SC1 or Kwikset KW1). Four standard keys are always included when I rekey, additional keys are available for $5 per pair at the time of rekeying. Other keyways are available and may differ in price and availability. Why Rekey Locks? When you rekey your locks, you’re altering the lock mechanism so that the old key will no longer open it. Instead, a new key will be necessary. In many circumstances, rekeying your locks makes more sense than changing your locks. For example, if all of your locks are of the same brand or have the same type of keyhole but use different keys, you can have your locks rekeyed to operate from the same key. If you’ve lost a copy of your old key, and you’re afraid someone will find it and access your home, you can rekey your locks so the old key doesn’t work anymore. If you’ve moved into a new home for the first time, rekeying your locks can be an affordable way to guarantee that no one but you and your family has keys to your new home. You never know who may have obtained keys to your home from the previous owner and how many copies of those keys have been made. Don't buy all new locks if you don't have to. Reduce costs and retain your existing hardware, simply change the key that fits your lock. Typically 3-4 locks are present in a home and can be done fairly quickly. Local Service includes a 15 mile radius of Ames. Please be aware, a per mile fee (one way) for locations outside of that radius is necessary. The fee of $125 includes up to the first 90 minutes for common household locks, atypical locks may take longer or require alternate means of service. **If you do not have a working key, there is an additional fee required to pick and decode the lock.
